Release Notes

Windy - enhanced window manager.
windy does window management a breeze.
It started as a windows alternative to divvy, but now it has evolved with into its own. Thanks to the generous feedback from you folks.
whats different from divvy?
- first - its free.
- has divvy like window resizing in all its glory
- Supports Multi Monitors. Look below for usage:
- search between your windows
- snappy UI for advanced window management.
- and most useful is its CommandBar. Command bar can search, run commands, clone processes, kill processes, even explore files.

Multi Mon Support:
We found that multi mon usage with windy is not intuitive. But once the user knows it, it is way faster than anything before. So here is a howto -
lets say you are working with 3 monitors, and you want to move a window from monitor-1 to monitor-3 -
1. Select the window you want to move in windy
2. Move your mouse to screen-3 and press the "Control" key. Control key will bring windy to screen-3 and center it.
3. Now resize by dragging on the resize tiles window, and the window will move to screen-3.
Windy always opens up on the monitor where your mouse is currently in. Cool right? No? let us know.

Reviews for this release

This release has been a big step backwards. The grid used to resize and position windows has been reduced to just 6x6 squares in size. This provides very little flexibility as it results in windows either being too big or too small. The new features are random as far as this project is concerned. Nobody asked for this application to become a replacement for ALT+TAB or Win + R.

This has been killing me for years.. the screenshots of the original look like it was just a simple click-drag to resize your windows, the app serving no other pointless purposes that might get the way. The version you have now is too cumbersome to use though, despite this functionality being an essential and overlooked concept for window management. I've searched everywhere for it, searched for years.. Satishlalam, please! I am willing to pay for the original, please put it back up; I can even pay you first, name your price and send me payment details or a paypal address. My email is

did not try the first version, but this one is pretty cool. I use it a lot in my setup. Cant do with out this, as i have too many windows open. The tool looks deceptively simple, but the advanced cmd prompt and the piping you can do between commands is very cool. excellent job.

Really like the concept a lot. Downloaded the last version from sourceforge and if I was rating that right now, it would be 4 stars... Downloaded this hoping that there might be multi monitor support, and frankly got more then I wanted. The clean UI is gone... And I really liked that. Would be nice to have an option to go back to the old style... But no matter what thanks for a cool tool!
